Plan Your Move

Once you know your completion date you should start planning your move. Here are some helpful suggestions.



1 Month Before

  • Notify landlord (if you are renting).

  • Contact your telephone/broadband provider to organise reconection/installation of a line.

  • Inform your Gas and Electricity providers that you will be the new owner of the property.

  • Start collecting Packing Materials.

  • Arrange time off work

  • Clear out all your unwanted clutter


2 Weeks Before

  • Book Removal Firm

  • Take out transit insurance (if necessary) for the move.

  • Inform appropriate people of your Change of Address.

  • Arrange for post office to redirect your mail

  • If necessary arrange baby sitter/pet sitter

  • Notify Local Authority of move and new address.

  • Think about your new home, how will you arrange your furniture, who is having which bedroom, etc

  • If you havena EUROS TMt already a EUROS Start Packing!



1 Week Before


  • Pay off all your final bills from you old house

  • Arrange to have meters read

  • Cancel any services, e.g. window cleaner, newspaper delivery

  • Confirm arrangements with utility companies.

  • Arrange the exchange of keys. Collect yours as soon as possible.

  • Make map of new property for the removal
  • company.

  • Start cleaning the house.




The Day Before


  • Label Boxes and finish packing.

  • Pack a container for emergency supplies.

  • Defrost Fridge/Freezer.

  • Finish cleaning the house.



The Day of the Move
  • Disconnect appliances.

  • Have one last final check.

  • Close and lock doors and windows.

  • Check that all containers have been delivered.
